Privacy Policy
Effective August 4, 2026 · Love Storm is operated by Project Lavos LLC, Louisville, Kentucky, during its pilot.
The short version
Love Storm connects neighbors who want to help with neighbors who need help. We collect the minimum needed to make that safe: who you are, roughly where you are, and what you post. Your exact location is encrypted and shown only to the one person who claims your request. Your phone number is never collected for a request and never shared — coordination happens inside the app. We do not sell data, we do not run ads, and there is no public scoreboard.
What we collect
- Sign-in identity. Your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or Google. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we see only the relay address Apple gives us.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as your neighborhood, causes you care about, street address, and phone number. These stay in your profile; they are not attached to public requests.
- What you post. The content of a request ("storm") or an act of help ("drop") — title, story, what's needed, and the location you provide for it.
- Location, two ways. A precise location for a request, which is encrypted at the field level and released only to the single neighbor who claims it; and a coarse, deliberately fuzzed area location, which is what everyone else sees. Exact locations are never shown publicly.
- A push token for your device, if you allow notifications, so the app can tell you when something near you needs help or when your request is claimed.
What we never do
- We never share phone numbers. Requests do not collect them, and claiming a request does not reveal one. Neighbors coordinate through the in-app conversation.
- We never sell or rent personal information, to anyone.
- We never show your exact location publicly.
- We never publish reliability ratings or rankings. Completion history is a private signal reviewed by the people who run the platform, used only to keep the community safe.
Who sees what
- Neighbors nearby see the public form of a request: its story, its category, and its fuzzed area — never the exact address, never contact details.
- The one neighbor who claims a request is shown the requester's first name and the precise location, once, so they can actually help. That release is recorded in an audit log.
- Platform stewards and administrators review submitted requests before or shortly after they become public, and can see request details and the audit trail. Every access to sensitive data is logged, append-only.
- Service providers that host our infrastructure (cloud hosting and database services, and Apple's push notification service) process data on our behalf. They do not get to use it for their own purposes.
How it's protected
Everything travels over encrypted connections and is encrypted at rest. The most sensitive fields — precise locations and personal identity on requests — carry an additional layer of field-level encryption, so even a raw copy of the database does not expose them. Access is role-based, and every touch of sensitive data is written to a tamper-evident audit log.
Retention and deletion
We keep information while the pilot operates and while your account exists. Completed requests are archived by type. If you want your account or your data deleted, email us at the address below and we will remove it; a formal automated retention schedule is being finalized during the pilot and this policy will be updated when it lands.
Not an emergency service
Love Storm is not 911 and does not dispatch emergency help. If someone is in danger, call 911. For non-emergency crisis referrals in Louisville, call Metro United Way at 2-1-1. Nothing that would put a neighbor in harm's way belongs on Love Storm — that work stays with professionals.
Children
Love Storm is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so here with a new effective date. Questions, deletion requests, or concerns: matthewdscott7@gmail.com.
